QuranSync (“we,” “our,” or “the App”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

1. Location Data

What we collect: Your device’s geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude)

Why we collect it: To calculate accurate prayer times for your location

How it’s used: Location data is processed locally on your device to determine prayer times. We do not transmit your location to external servers.

Your control: You can deny location permission. The app will still function, but you’ll need to manually set your location for prayer times.

2. Locally Stored Data

The following data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:

• Reading Progress: Your current page, surah, and ayah positions
• Bookmarks: Verses and pages you’ve bookmarked
• Hifz (Memorization) Progress: Your memorization tracking data
• Prayer Logs: Records of prayers you’ve logged
• App Preferences: Theme, font size, translation preferences, notification settings
• Downloaded Content: Quran audio files, mushaf images, and databases you’ve downloaded for offline use

3. Network Requests

Quran Content: The app fetches Quran verses, translations, and audio from Quran.com’s public API through our secure proxy server. These requests do not include personally identifiable information.

What is transmitted:

• Surah and ayah numbers you’re viewing
• Translation and reciter preferences
• Device type (for compatibility)

What is NOT transmitted:

• Your name, email, or contact information
• Your location
• Your reading history or bookmarks
• Any personal identifiers

Data Storage

On-Device Storage

All personal data (bookmarks, reading progress, settings) is stored locally on your device using secure storage mechanisms. This data is:

• Never uploaded to our servers
• Only accessible by the QuranSync app
• Deleted when you uninstall the app

Cloud Services

We use Cloudflare Workers as a secure proxy to access Quran.com’s API. This proxy:

• Does not log or store your requests
• Does not track your usage
• Simply forwards content requests securely

Third-Party Services

Quran.com API

We use the Quran.com API to provide Quranic content. Their privacy policy applies to the content they serve. Visit quran.com/privacy for details.

Crash Reporting (Optional)

If enabled, anonymous crash reports may be sent to help us improve app stability. These reports contain:

• Device model and OS version
• App version
• Stack traces (technical error information)
• No personally identifiable information

Permissions Explained

Children’s Privacy

QuranSync does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages and does not require account creation or personal information submission.

Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data:

• All network communications use HTTPS encryption
• Local data is stored using platform-secure storage APIs
• No sensitive data is transmitted to external servers

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: View all data stored by the app in Settings
• Delete: Clear all app data through your device settings or by uninstalling
• Control: Manage permissions through your device’s app settings
• Opt-out: Disable notifications and location access at any time

Data Retention

• Local data: Retained until you clear app data or uninstall
• Server logs: We do not maintain user-specific logs
• Crash reports: Retained for 90 days for debugging purposes

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by updating the “Last Updated” date.
